MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines in Diliman is the country’s’ top university for its research performance, non-academic prominence and the impact of recognized alumni, according to independent ranking site EduRank.org.
EduRank, which evaluates universities worldwide using self-collected data and metric-based analysis, placed UP Diliman 366th in Asia and 1,348th globally. This marks an improvement from last year’s rankings of 374th in Asia and 1,367th worldwide.
UP Diliman’s research capabilities were highlighted for the volume and impact of research published by its students and faculty.
Since 1992, the university has produced approximately 10,687 scientific papers, which have been cited in over 139,000 studies.
Following UP Diliman in the country’s rankings are De La Salle University (DLSU), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), University of Santo Tomas (UST) and UP Los Baños (UPLB).
DLSU ranked 504th in Asia, followed by Ateneo at 565th, UST at 834th, and UPLB at 882nd.
Globally, DLSU was placed at 1,728th, AdMU at 1,903rd, UST at 2,628th, and UPLB at 2,774th.
Other institutions that made it to the country’s top 10 include UP Manila, University of San Carlos in Cebu, Mapúa University, Mindanao State University in Marawi and the Asian Institute of Management.
A total of 100 Philippine tertiary institutions were included in EduRank’s local rankings.
Universities were scored based on three criteria: research performance (45 percent), non-academic reputation (45 percent) and alumni impact (10 percent).
