Members of the Alas Pilipinas women’s volleyball team and officials from the Pilipinas Sambo Federation will headline on Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum as the country gears up to host two major international tournaments next month.
National team standouts Alyssa Valdez, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Ces Molina and Nina Ytang are set to appear alongside interim coach Shaq Delos Santos in the second part of the weekly public sports program at the Philippine Sports Commission media room.
The Alas Pilipinas representatives are expected to discuss their preparations for the AVC Women’s Cup scheduled on June 6 to 14 in Candon, Ilocos Sur.
The Philippines will host 12 countries in the continental tournament, which forms part of the national team’s buildup for future international competitions.
The session begins at 10:30 a.m.
Country’s preparation
The first part of the forum will focus on the Asia and Oceania Sambo Championships, another international event the country will host from June 23 to 28 at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Leading the discussion are Sambo Union of Asia and Oceania secretary-general and technical delegate Suresh Gopi, Pilipinas Sambo Federation founder and president Paolo Tancontian, and national sambo head coach Ace Larida.
Organizers are expected to tackle the country’s preparations for the regional meet and the continued development of sambo in the Philippines.
The weekly PSA Forum is presented by San Miguel Corporation, the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO and ArenaPlus.
The session will be streamed live through the PSA Facebook page and aired on delayed broadcast by Sports Radio 918.
