MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte has arrived in The Hague in the Netherlands, the first of four countries included in her overseas trips from May 2 to 15, as the House plenary voting on the impeachment complaint against her is expected to be held on May 11.
Aside from the Netherlands, Duterte will also travel to South Korea, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom.
“I’m fine. I slept well so I don’t have jet lag,” Duterte said in The Hague where her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte is detained while awaiting trial for crimes against humanity.
In a unanimous vote, members of the justice committee of the House of Representatives approved on Monday the report containing the Articles of Impeachment against the Vice President.
Malacañang permitted Duterte to embark on overseas trips she had originally sought to undertake starting last month.
Duterte originally intended to travel from April 23 to May 15 “while on leave of absence at no cost to the government.”
Speaking from The Hague, Duterte criticized lawmakers for declaring she would definitely be impeached.
