For De Lima's camp, the voiding of the decision means the appellate court wants the lower court to rewrite the decision and explain further why it arrived in acquittal
MANILA, Philippines – Incoming ML Representative Leila de Lima will not be detained again following the Court of Appeals’ (CA) decision that voided her acquittal in one drug case in 2023.
The CA decision voided the 2023 acquittal ruling, but did not reverse it.
For De Lima’s camp, it simply means the appellate court wants the lower court to rewrite the decision and explain further why it arrived in De Lima’s acquittal.
Since the CA decision is not yet enforceable, De Lima will remain free and is set to join the 20th Congress for her legislative comeback.
