MANILA, Philippines — There’s no single way to be a mom, and there’s no single way to judge a Mother’s Day cake either.
Some moms look for something not too sweet. Others just want to share it with family or friends. And some are a little more meticulous, noticing the small details you wouldn’t expect.
So instead of doing a typical taste test, we asked a few moms to try the new Goldilocks Signature Strawberry.
Different moms, different perspectives. Each has her own routines, personalities and definitions of what makes something “worth it”—and here’s how it went.
The mom who knows what works
Catherine “Cathy” Eyoyo is the kind of mom who’s always on the go. She balances work while raising a grade schooler.
“Hindi siya masyadong matamis. Hindi nakakaumay,” she says, straightforwardly. “Puwede ‘to sa lahat ng birthday, pero perfect for Mother’s Day.”
Cathy says a good cake should be something you can bring out at the end of a long day and know everyone will have a slice and feel good about it.

The mom who feels everything first
Kristine “Tin” Bersamina brings a different kind of warmth to the table. Despite being a manager in a fast-paced workplace, she maintains an easygoing demeanor—the type who always looks for the good in things.
After trying the Signature Strawberry, she shared that it’s the kind of cake she can imagine sharing in the office or serving during quiet moments at home, when everyone finally gets to sit down together.
“Nice layers of vanilla and strawberry cake. Masarap siya. Pang-family talaga,” she said.

The mom experiencing it all for the first time
Everything feels a little more meaningful these days for Gen Z mom Anjilica “Anj” Andaya.
Pregnant with her first child, she’s starting to see celebrations differently—especially with her very first Mother’s Day coming up.
When she held the cake, her first reaction was about the moment.
“May real strawberries on top! Ang ganda, very aesthetic,” says Anj, a photographer and multimedia specialist.

She lingered on the details—the soft layers, the light finish, the way the cake instantly looked like the centerpiece of a gathering.
The mom who notices the little things
Then there’s this author. As a mom to two grade schoolers, I’m the kind who’s easy to please, but quietly particular. I don’t make a big deal out of things, but I surely notice what matters.
So for this Goldilocks Signature Strawberry cake, I loved how I could already smell the strawberry scent even from afar.
As with all my fellow moms, I also noticed how the texture stood out. It’s light, soft and easy to enjoy, especially for a cake meant to be shared over coffee or tea in the afternoon.
Most importantly, it’s reasonably priced for the ample size of the cake.
It has four layers of soft strawberry and vanilla chiffon, lightly brushed with strawberry-flavored simple syrup to keep the cake moist and flavorful.
For that creamy texture and gentle sweetness, each layer is filled with a combination of strawberry filling and strawberry whipped cream.
The cake is iced with strawberry whipped cream, finished with plain whipped cream borders, and topped with strawberry coulis and whole strawberries for a classic, minimalist look.

Different moms but same verdict
All of us had our own ways of looking at the cake, but we arrived at the same conclusion.
Some of us looked for balance, others for comfort, flavor or texture. In the end, we all agreed that this is the kind of cake you could bring out when you want to make a moment feel a little more special, without overthinking it.
Maybe that’s what Mother’s Day is really about. Not big gestures or perfect plans—just finding a way to bring everyone together and enjoying the sweet little things.
The new Goldilocks Signature Strawberry is available in all Goldilocks stores nationwide and on delivery platforms.
