THE JA Personal Finance program, now in its third year, continues to broaden its impact by bringing vital financial literacy education to classrooms across the country.
Led by JA Philippines and supported by Wells Fargo Philippines, the initiative was recently recognized with a Bronze Stevie Award at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards for its innovative, community-driven approach.
The program helps Senior High School students build essential financial skills, covering topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, and responsible credit use. For the current school year alone, it has reached more than 32,000 students and worked with 1,200 teachers across 324 public schools in Metro Manila.
Beyond the numbers, the real impact lies in how students apply what they have learned. Participants engaged in business simulations and financial planning exercises — one team successfully doubled their startup capital through a milk tea venture, while another developed a long-term financial roadmap for a community bakery.
The program was also recently honored with a Regional Partnership Award from the Department of Education, recognizing its contribution to strengthening financial education in public schools.

Despite ongoing efforts, the need for financial literacy remains urgent. A 2022 global study found that only 25 percent of Filipinos are considered financially literate. Initiatives like JA Personal Finance aim to address this gap.
Through sustained collaboration, JA Philippines and Wells Fargo continue working to create change — one classroom, student, and volunteer at a time.
