There's something about acting that made Jess Martinez decide to join the field.
In terms of popularity, the newbie showbiz personality has already built a fan base on her TikTok account, which now has more than 500,000 followers and 17 million likes.
However, Jess thought she wanted to shift into acting after doing a workshop.
“When I did workshop po, out of curiosity lang po talaga nung una,” she told entertainment media, including GMANetwork.com, in a pocket presscon held recently.
She continued, “Sabi ko, I want something else kasi parang paulit-ulit na rin ang ginagawa ko in my daily life--nagde-dress up, when I wake up, na parang princess. Sabi ko, I want something else. So, I tried doing acting workshop. 'Tapos, doon ko na feel na parang 'Oh, this is something I've been looking for in my life,' something new and something I could express myself.”
She also mentioned, “I'm not for fame. Yung gusto ko sa showbiz, I get to express my emotions. Yung acting po ang gusto ko doon at napapakita ko yung iba't ibang personality ko. At the same time, mas napu-push ako.
“Kasi, when it comes to being an influencer, it's a routine base po, e, parang ito nang ito ang ginagawa ko. What I love about being in the showbiz, iba-ibang characters siya, so mas nahahasa ako as a person.”
Jess said she's the first among her family who showed interest in joining showbiz.
“Wala pong nasa showbiz side sa family ko. They're all in the business side industry. So, it really was my decision to enter the showbiz industry.”
However, her interest in showbiz grew because their household loves watching teleseryes.
“Parang doon, sabi ko, I want to become a star one day. I want to be seen on television and to express my emotions and craft.”
