Track, intensity

As Wilma approaches land, PAGASA warned that heavy rainfall and strong winds may affect areas beyond the cyclone’s forecast track, saying that the system’s movement may still shift within the forecast confidence cone.

Wilma is expected to move westward through most of the forecast period.

On its current track, the tropical depression may make initial landfall over Eastern Visayas on Saturday before crossing the Visayas until Sunday, December 7.

The system may then emerge over the Sulu Sea and pass near northern Palawan by Monday morning, December 8.

Wilma is likely to remain a tropical depression as it crosses the Visayas and Southern Luzon, though PAGASA said it may still intensify once it reaches the West Philippine Sea.
