MANILA, Philippines — A woman has been arrested for allegedly selling her one-year-old baby girl in Pasig City, the police Anti-Cybercrime Group said yesterday.
ACG director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta said cases for violation of the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act and the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act were filed against the 45-year-old suspect.
The mother was apprehended in an entrapment operation in front of a restaurant on Wednesday at around 1:30 p.m. after cybercrime investigators discovered a Facebook post offering a baby in exchange for money.
Prior to her arrest, the suspect attempted to sell another child, but the transaction did not materialize.
Asueta said the suspect has seven children, including the one she sold to an undercover police officer.
