YouTube has officially launched YouTube Shopping in the Philippines, further expanding its partnership with Shopee in Southeast Asia. The feature, already live in five other SEA countries, brings an upgraded video commerce experience to Filipino viewers, content creators, and brands.

With YouTube Shopping, viewers can now purchase products directly from YouTube videos and livestreams through product tagging, eliminating the need to click through lengthy links or jump between apps. Products tagged by creators will appear in a dedicated section under the video, with users redirected straight to Shopee for checkout.

The rollout is part of YouTube’s broader push into video commerce, which has seen massive growth in Southeast Asia—video shopping accounted for 20% of the region’s e-commerce GMV in 2024, quadrupling since 2022.

“Southeast Asia is shaping the future of shopping with its deeply engaged video-first audience and vibrant creator community,” said Sapna Chadha, VP for Google Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier.

More ways for creators and sellers to earn

The launch opens new monetization channels for Filipino YouTubers. Through the affiliate program, eligible creators can earn commissions by featuring and tagging products in their content. They can also highlight products during livestreams.

Popular local creators like Camille Co and Mond Salem (Hardware Voyage) have already expressed excitement over the feature, calling it a game-changer for both viewers and influencers.

“Now with YouTube Shopping, it’s so much easier to share the products I love—and I get to earn while doing so,” said Camille Co.

For Shopee sellers, the integration means greater exposure as creators can promote their listings to highly engaged audiences. According to Shopee Philippines Head Vincent Lee, the collaboration allows sellers to “connect with creators and harness their influence to drive sales effectively.”

Boost for brands and advertisers

Advertisers are also expected to benefit from the move. YouTube Shopping enables direct integration of product feeds into campaigns and collaborations with creators. Early results from brands like L’Oréal Thailand have shown a 10x boost in high-intent views and a 2x improvement in cost-per-visit compared to previous campaigns.

Top-performing product categories include Beauty, Mobile & Gadgets, and Home & Living.

Editor’s Note: YouTube Shopping is now available in six Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The feature aims to further strengthen YouTube’s foothold in the growing creator economy and digital shopping landscape in the region.
