MANILA, Philippines — Obed Mukaba delivered the championship-clinching point for National University in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 88 men’s volleyball Finals on Saturday.

The Congolese middle blocker soared and nailed for a quick attack as the Bulldogs completed a sweep of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws and a sixth consecutive crown.

And if this was it for Mukaba in the UAAP, it was certainly how he imagined his final game would be.

“Of course, I’m very happy to make this, because this is my fourth time to be champion. I’m graduating, so going out with this championship makes me very, very happy,” Mukaba told the Inquirer after the Bulldogs’ 26-24, 25-22, 25-22 victory over the top-seeded Tamaraws.

Mukaba, who finished with six points on a 5-of-7 spiking clip and a kill block, was inspired by his parents watching courtside part of the 11,526 fans at Mall of Asia Arena.

“I’m very grateful, because today I saw my mother, my father, so that’s also one of my motivations today,” he said.

Mukaba, however, cleared that he is still undecided on whether he will return for one more year, as he wants to celebrate NU’s latest title win first.

More than the championships he won, Mukaba is grateful for NU for honing him to become a better person.

“I’m very grateful to NU, because they not only make me a good player, but a better person. So, not only inside the court, even outside the court, they help me to grow,” he said.
