MANILA, Philippines — The relic of the first “millennial saint,” Carlo Acutis, is set to return to the Philippines this year.
According to a report by CBCP News on Thursday, April 30, preparations are ongoing for the relic’s expected return in November to December 2026, according to Fr. Jerome Ponce, national spiritual director of the Friends of St. Carlo Acutis – Philippines.
The relic will be brought to churches in Cebu and the Visayas. It was first brought to the Philippines, touring Luzon from Nov. 27 to Dec. 15, 2025.
It consists of a segment of Acutis’ pericardium, the protective membrane that encases the heart, and is kept as a first-class relic intended for public veneration.
Widely known as “God’s influencer,” Acutis was canonized as a saint on Sept. 7, 2025.
He is recognized as the “first millennial saint.” He died on Oct. 12, 2006, due to leukemia.
Acutis is the second saint who was canonized while his parents were still alive. He was second after Saint Maria Goretti, who was canonized in 1950, being witnessed by her mother.
