Both born on Feb. 11 (but separated by a number of years between them) and both named Lourdes by their parents to honor our Lady of Lourdes, fashion pillar Lulu Tan Gan and charming Bernie Aboitiz finally opted to gather a few of their friends for dinner at the Manila House. During the small gathering, it turned out that even Marilu Batchelor and Lulette Moran Monbiot were coincidentally also named Lourdes.

That’s exactly what Carmen Fernandez Beaves did when she flew in from her home base in Hong Kong and London as she gathered her treasured friends for dinner to celebrate friendship and love. It turned out to be the perfect time to surprise Venice- and Patmos-based Sandie Palou Schwartzbaum with an advanced birthday cake. Plans are being made to make sure that even their children will be included in future gatherings so that the next generation can continue a friendship that has endured for more than 100 years.
