MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said it is 90 to 95 percent ready for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) on Nov. 2 and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) elections set for Sept. 14.
In a radio interview yesterday, Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said key preparations such as ballot printing and equipment procurement are nearing completion.
Election-related activities are already underway, including candidate-related processes and system preparations for both automated and manual voting systems for both BSKE and BARMM elections, Garcia said.
Voter education campaigns are being prepared, particularly for the Bangsamoro region, where the electoral system differs from the traditional barangay and SK polls.
For preparations in the BARMM, Garcia said the process remains on track following the three-day filing of certificates of candidacy from May 5 to 7 across 32 parliamentary districts.
