MANILA, Philippines — Call her Dr. Charo. Actress, "Maalala Mo Kaya" (MMK) host, and former ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio received an honorary Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa) from St. Paul University Manila on Friday.
In an Instagram post, Santos-Concio thanked her alma mater for "the great honor."
"To be awarded the first Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa, at the SPU Manila Fleur-de-lis Auditorium is both deeply humbling and immensely rewarding. I truly appreciate this recognition of my journey in Philippine media and communications," she wrote, sharing photos of the ceremony
In a separate post, the university said it conferred its first-ever Doctor of Humanities to Santos-Concio in recognition of her "outstanding leadership in Philippine media, her trailblazing role as President and CEO of ABS-CBN, and her unwavering commitment to values-based storytelling in film and television."
Following the conferment, Santos-Concio addressed the graduating class during their commencement ceremony.
