Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president, Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez says he is proud of President Marcos' accomplishments, even as the latter prepares to deliver his annual "report card to the nation" on Monday, July 28.

“As President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. prepares to deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), I am proud of the gains he has made under his steady and compassionate leadership,” Romualdez, who served as Speaker of the previous 19th Congress, said in a statement Sunday, July 27.

“From bold economic recovery initiatives to decisive investments in agriculture, infrastructure, education, and digital innovation, the President has shown that strong governance can uplift lives and restore confidence in our nation’s future,” he said.

For the past three years, Romualdez, a lawyer from the University of the Philippines (UP) and president of Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa), has served as Marcos' top ally in the House of Representatives.

Romualdez is expected to be that guy again for Chief Executive, as he is expected to win the Speakership vote in the 20th Congress.

He said the upcoming SONA provides an opportunity to further strengthen the country’s progress while addressing urgent public concerns.

“But the work is far from over. The Filipino people continue to face challenges—from rising costs of basic goods to the need for better healthcare, stable jobs, and improved access to education and social services,” he noted.

According to the Visayan, this year’s SONA “is a chance to build on what we’ve achieved and set a clear, compassionate, and forward-looking agenda that speaks to the real needs of our people".

He added that the House of Representatives remains fully committed to supporting the President’s priorities through legislation that delivers meaningful results.

“We in the House of Representatives stand firmly behind the President’s vision. We are ready to translate his priorities into action by passing laws that will ease the burden on Filipino families, strengthen our economy, and ensure that no one is left behind in the journey toward a truly inclusive and secure future,” Romualdez said.
