Decadent Chocolate Cake

MANILA, Philippines — Everybody loves a good chocolate cake. Who doesn’t? It is just a matter of preference — sweetish white chocolate, creamy milk chocolate, or lightly bitter dark chocolate.
While most kids prefer the sweet variants of chocolate, most adults enjoy the well-rounded full flavor of dark chocolate, which is actually the variant that is good for heart health. Dark chocolate helps lower blood pressure and increase blood flow, enhance brain function, and supply powerful antioxidants to the body.
Harnessing the power of dark chocolate, Chef Jackie Ang Po created this recipe of Decadent Chocolate Cake using Beryl’s Dark Chocolate and Arla Butter for everyone to enjoy.
Decadent Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Arla Butter
1 1/4 cup Beryl's dark chocolate
3 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsps. vanilla extract
3/4 cup Beryls' dark chocolate
1/2 cup all-purpose cream
Procedure:
1. Melt Beryl's dark chocolate and Arla Butter in a mixing bowl over double boiler (bowl over pan of boiling water). Add vanilla. Mix until smooth. Set aside.
2. Beat eggs and sugar until light. Fold in flour.
3. Pour a little of the egg mixture into the chocolate mixture. Mix well. Then fold the entire chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Mix until smooth.
4. Pour batter into a pitcher and pour into desired cake molds.
5. Bake in a preheated 325°F oven until the inserted tester comes out clean.
6. While the cake is in the oven, make the ganache. Melt together Beryl's dark chocolate and all-purpose cream in a bowl over double boiler. Set aside.
7. Chill. Use this to decorate and garnish your decadent chocolate cake. Sprinkling top of cake with a little cocoa powder and pipe small dollops of icing onto it.
