MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Thursday, May 15, announced that government workers will receive their midyear bonuses today.

Among those who will receive their bonuses are military and uniformed personnel.

“Simula ngayong araw, May 15, ay magsisimula na pong matanggap ng ating mga qualified government workers ang kanilang midyear bonus, na equivalent sa kanilang one month basic pay,” Pangandaman said.

(Starting today, May 15, qualified government workers will begin getting their midyear bonuses, which is equivalent to their one-month basic pay.)

In the 2025 budget, a total of P63.69 billion was allotted for the midyear bonus. From this amount, P16.108 billion is for military and uniformed personnel.

The DBM released the budget for these agencies as early as January. Pangandaman urged agencies and local government units to release the midyear bonuses on time.

Government workers who are qualified for a midyear bonus include those who have rendered at least four months of service from July 1 last year to May 15 this year, according to the DBM Budget Circular 2017-2.

Qualified workers should also have obtained satisfactory performance ratings within the appraisal periods.

All branches of government will get a bonus, including the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, the constitutional commissions and other constitutional offices, state universities and colleges, and government-owned or -controlled corporations covered by the compensation and position classification system, and in local government units.

Military and uniformed personnel who are entitled to bonuses include the following: the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the Department of National Defense and uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology of the Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippine Coast Guard of the Department of Transportation, and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Pangandaman urged workers to be fiscally responsible with their bonuses, saying it is better to budget their earnings.
