Michelle Dee took to social media to share that she got bitten in the face by her pet dog.
On Instagram, the Kapuso actress and beauty queen shared a photo of herself with a gauze pad under her right eye and chin.
In a separate post, Michelle shared a video of herself making a trip to a clinic to have her wound taken care of.
"No matter how much we love your furbabies, never underestimate dog bites!" she said. "Act [quickly]."
In May, two deaths occurred due to rabies infection: a man who died nine months after the bite and a woman who was bitten two months ago.
In 2024, the DOH reported a total of 426 rabies-related deaths and emphasized the need for pet vaccinations and increased rabies awareness.
While rabies infection is 100% deadly, it's also 100% preventable by getting pre- or post-exposure prophylaxis for rabies.
If you are bitten or scratched by an animal, wash the wound first with soap and running water before heading to the nearest health center or Animal Bite Treatment Center.
