MANILA, Philippines — The bright and colorful Dinagyang Festival is among the highlight of an Iloilo trip, and for those who have extended their stay in the city, there are sweet treats they can pick up as pasalubongs.

The Western Visayan province offers unique and delicious food fares, such as Chicken Inasal (grilled chicken), Kansi (a cross between Sinigang and Bulalo), and Law-uy (Ilonggo version of Dinengdeng).

Its strength, however, lies in the many pasalubong treats that it readily serves up when guests finally search for edible presents to bring home with them towards the end of their trip. For this, Iloilo has many traditional bite-sized specialties.

These classic Ilonggo specialties, which are available in many stores in Iloilo, such as Tinapayan at Iloilo Supermart, include:

  1. Angel Cookies. Light, snow-white clouds with a perfect crunch, these are airy, melt-in-the-mouth treats with a sweet hint of vanilla.
  2. Bañadas. Light, airy and baked to a perfect golden crisp, then delicately “bathed” in a thin, snow-white glaze.
  3. Broas. Light-as-air ladyfingers with a delicate, milky sweetness that shatters with a satisfying snap before melting on your tongue.
  4. Butterscotch. Dense, chewy caramel bars studded with chopped nuts and individually wrapped for freshness, these delightful bites have come to be associated with Iloilo. Besides the classic plain butterscotch, it now comes in flavored variants, such as Mango Butterscotch and Cashew Butterscotch.
  5. Butterscotch Crisp. Thin-baked to golden perfection, it delivers an intense caramel flavor with a satisfying, brittle crunch.
  6. Caramel Tart. Simply irresistible caramel in tart form. Rich, gooey caramel meets a crisp, buttery shell.
  7. Cinnamon Twist. A light, buttery dough, infused with premium ground cinnamon and twisted into golden spirals of perfection. Every bite is a balance of toasted warmth and caramelized sugar crunch.
  8. Galletas. These are paper-thin, egg-rich biscuits baked to a delicate golden hue, offering a crisp texture that melts away into subtle, milky sweetness.
  9. Garlic Herb Toast. Thick artisan bread slices, toasted to a deep, golden crunch, and infused with the bold flavor of roasted garlic and herbs. It is savory, buttery, and incredibly aromatic.
  10. Kinihad. Freshly baked bread, sliced to the perfect thickness, and toasted until it reaches a satisfying, golden snap.
  11. Lengua de Gato. The classic "Cat’s Tongue" cookie that is exceptionally thin, crisp, and crafted with an abundance of real creamery butter. It’s a delicate treat that shatters with a satisfying snap before melting instantly on your tongue.
  12. Madrileñas. Baked to a perfect golden hue, featuring that iconic flower shape and a rich, buttery flavor. Every bite offers a delicate, crumbly texture that melts instantly on your tongue.
  13. Mango Tart. A buttery shell filled with a dense, flavorful mango custard. It is the perfect balance of sweet and tart that melts in your mouth.
  14. Mixed Lenguas. At Tinapayan at Iloilo Supermart, these thin, buttery crunch treats you love now come in three distinct flavors: Classic Butter, Rich Chocolate, and Smooth Mocha.
  15. Paborita. Light, crispy and multi-layered, it is famously “flaky” — similar to a very thin cracker or puff pastry that has been baked until firm.
  16. Prinsipe. A crunchy, toasted delight made from real butter cake. It is similar to a slice of dried butter pound cake — buttery, sweet, and crumbly
  17. Pure Butter Cookies. Light golden and incrediblye cookies with the rich, milky flavor of butter.
  18. Rosquillos. A light crunch and a melt-in-your-mouth finish, Rosquillos are toasted to perfection for a world-class snap.
  19. Toasted Mamon. A classic Filipino sponge cake, slow- baked until golden and crisp. Light as air and rich in butter, it offers a satisfying crunch that melts away instantly on your tongue.
