MANILA, Philippines — A priest of the Archdiocese of Palo in Leyte, has been missing since December 23, with his whereabouts still unknown.
In a statement on Wednesday, December 24, the Archdiocese of Palo said Reverend Father Edwin "Kutz" Caintoy was last seen on the morning of December 23 at the bus terminal near Robinsons North in Tacloban City.
He was wearing a white clerical polo shirt and carrying a sling bag.
According to the Babatngon Municipal Police Station on Thursday, December 25, Caintoy was last seen around 9:08 a.m. on December 23, traveling to Barangay 108 Tagpuro, Tacloban City, on an orange RUSI motorcycle driven by his sacristan, Janriel Pelapel.
He later boarded a NORBATCO passenger bus, with a plate number GAW 7651, bound for Tacloban City, and reportedly alighted at the corner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church along Quezon Boulevard.
A CCTV from VSYS Department Store captured him walking toward Robinsons North Tacloban, but since then, his whereabouts remain unknown, and he has not returned.
Reverend Father Gwen Lovelino Padagdag, chancellor of the Archdiocese of Palo, said they are closely coordinating with authorities in search of Caintoy.
Those with information that may assist in locating Caintoy have been urged to contact Padagdag through 09282193275. The public may also contact Babatngon Municipal Station through 09985986483.
"We earnestly ask the faithful to keep Fr. Caintoy in their prayers," he said.
Caitnoy is a 55-year-old priest at San Jose de Malibago Parish.
