No better time to explore Intramuros than this summer, thanks to the Intramuros passport.
The eight-page passport is the latest tourism package from the Intramuros Administration that will make for a hassle-free field trip to the Walled City of Manila.
The Intramuros passport is an eight-page document that contains a site map, a stamp page that will give you access to different sites, individual pages for the five iconic locations, and a blank page for collecting special stamps.
Priced at P350 for regular individuals, and P280 for PWDs, Senior Citizens, students, and children under 11, the Intramuros passport can be purchased and claimed at ticket booths at Intramuros Administration-managed sites or through an online application platform beginning April 26.
Here are five things that your Intramuros passport can give you access to:
1. Intramuros' five major sites. The one-time passport will let you visit five of Intramuros’ top attraction: Fort Santiago, Casa Manila, Museo de Intramuros, Baluarte de San Diego, and the Centro de Turismo.
Each site usually charges an admission fee of ?75, which clocks in a total of P375 if you want to visit all five. The passport, priced at P350, gives you a more affordable access to all of them in one go.
To make their tour more fun and exciting, passport holders are eligible for special stamps at each site they visit.
The ever-important site map is found Inside the Intramuros passport.
2. Tram rides. A tram ride usually costs P1,400 per 2 hours but with the passport, you can experience riding the tram between sites for free. Isn't that cool.
3. Special token. According to the Intramuros Administration, you get a special token once you've collected and completed all six stamps (the five sites + tranvia). When asked what the special token was about, the administration said it’s a “surprise.”
4. Discounts. Exploring Intramuros will definitely get your hungry. Thankfully, passport holders get one-time discounts at partner establishments like Barbara's, Mercadillo, Papa Kape, and Ate Rica's Bacsilog around the Walled City.
5. Concert. The passport will serve as your ticket to the Sinag Concert, the culminating event of the first-ever Intramuros Summer Festival happening on April 26! Sinag is headlined by The Itchyworms, with performances by Over October and rising OPM artist Earl Agustin. — LA, GMA Integrated News
