Taking the fashion world by storm, "sneakerina" is clearly becoming one of 2025's standout trends.

The perfect middle ground for sneakerheads and ballet flats lovers, the sneakerina fuses the comfort of sneakers with the dainty charm of ballet flats. Think padded soles, dainty ribbon laces and straps, and just the perfect blend of sporty and feminine.

Taking inspiration from the “balletcore” aesthetic popularized on TikTok in 2022, with luxury designers and brands like Simone Rocha and Louis Vuitton crafting their versions, the Sneakerina has found its way from fashion runways to street style, and Manila’s fashion scene is catching on.

If you want to hop on the trend and get yourself a pair (or two), here are five brands offering their own iterations of the Sneakerina, all readily available in Metro Manila.

1. Charles & Keith. Charles & Keith’s Cece Sneakerina (P3,399) features soft satin material and a ruched folds silhouette with dainty bow detail, mimicking the look of ballet sandals. Get them.

2. Puma. Puma has released a new iteration of its Speedcat line, taking inspiration from ballet flats this time. The Puma Speedcat Ballet (P5,200) features unique straps instead of laces for that effortless slip-on wear.

3. Adidas. The Taekwondo (P6,500) features a low-cut, lace-free silhouette with close-to-the-floor soles, like in ballet flats, for better grip and balance.

4. Vivaia. The online fave for Mary Janes has released its a Sneakerina that embodies the silhouette best. Vivaia’s Cristina (P7,949) is made with smooth, luxurious satin fabric and a triple-layer sole for the comfort of all-day wear. Check it out here.

5. Onitsuka Tiger. The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 TGRS (P10,100) seamlessly blends the elegance of ballet flats and the comfort of sneakers. It features a slip-on style with straps and flower-cut Onitsuka Tiger stripes.
